When news hit the wire that our Roger was struck by the New York Post’s Lou Lumenick during a screening at this fall’s Toronto International Film Festival, we all quickly felt very protective of our Pulitzer-winning critic. How dare some mope from New York smack Chi-town royalty? Of course, Lou, feel free to hit Richard Roeper whenever you want. Yeah, the TV show’s over, and if there is any mercy to be granted in this forsaken world, the Sun-Times columnist will discontinue his film criticism forever and stick to his strengths in general-interest writing or, and we never thought we’d say this, even sports.
