OK, so we’d rather have had the little guy five years ago, but when you’re faced with a team that one, never spends any money on the really good players, and two, used smoke and mirrors to get to the playoffs last year, you have to take what you can get. Once upon a time Fleury played like a wolverine with road rage, combining cheap-shot tactics with a goal-scorer’s touch. Injuries and some well-documented substance-abuse problems have taken him down a notch since then. But he’s back with his favorite coach (Sutter coached him in Calgary) and out of a bad situation with the New York Rangers. Do we smell a comeback? Or is that just the familiar stench of last place?
