Flaky is not normally a positive characteristic, but the light, crisp crust on Floriole’s croissants are flaky in the best possible way, leading to a soft interior with eighty layers of buttery goodness. The classic croissant holds its own, although some are partial to the pain au chocolat with bars of Valrhona chocolate. The pistachio croissant, our favorite, has just a hint of citrus to brighten up the nuttiness. The café may offer free wi-fi, but don’t work while eating these pastries. Not because you’ll get croissant flakes on your computer, but because these pastries deserve your undivided attention.
