In Hyde Park, both one of Chicago’s wealthiest neighborhoods and until recently a kind of food desert, there’s been a flood of excellent new dining places, including A10, which Matthias Merges opened late last year. Chef John Vermiglio (Table Fifty-Two, G.E.B., and Bravo’s “Around the World in 80 Plates”) is in the kitchen at this stylish resto in a gorgeously updated Harper Court. Though he says his food is Franco-Italian, it’s clearly weighted toward the latter. Tending bar, Alex Bachman shows off the cocktalian skills that won him praise at Billy Sunday.
