Most Chicagoans hate it. Rahm Emanuel and Blair Kamin suggested we tear it down. Yet, Lakeside Center at McCormick Place is a damn good building. The perfectly black roof floats over the lakefront, seemingly looming over Lake Shore Drive while pulling your eye toward the horizon of the water as you pass it or view the building from a distance. It is perhaps best appreciated from Northerly Island, which offers the benefit of not being able to hear all the idiots who want to tear it down.
